Lets look beyond the choice, one way or other we need constitution and extension is inevitable. It's not that we don't have any brighter spot in last years, we need to find them and replicate/amplify them. Being a concerned citizen we have to keep on moving with cautionary movement side by side, which is not a choice.

But is knowledge base and vision of leaders, particularly CA members up to par for drafting the constitution? I guess not. In this situation cautionary movement is not sufficient, and the major focus of protest till now is demanding of timely constitution. If possible we should also focus on constructively helping the process. I am technologist and I think I should use my tools to help from my side.

Lets organize a hackathon and develop a platform for collective movement, Lets use tools like ushahidi which uses crowdsourcing for social activism and public accountability. Lets collect voices and incidents from all part of nepal, lets orient our local citizen journalist to contribute to this platform, lets ask leaders and CA members questions and post answer on the platform, lets get united once again and lets constructively help Constitution making process. Who knows, your small writeup on one fine tuesday evening might help shape the nation.

Someday I'll wonder why I wrote this, and why I posted it someplace everyone can see. But If I do not write it now, this will definitely be lost in time and I do not want that happen.
This is about dreams, dreams of achieving something worthwhile, being in company of minds you want to be, do something worthwhile to all and yourself, be at the edge and see beyond. You might have dreamt something similar or different, smaller or bigger. Don't you feel you are at top of the world when you are about to realize the dream, when you can almost touch it ... suddenly if your dreams are shattered to pieces, how do you feel?
Last week was similar chapter in my life. It's not that I failed for first time, but this time when I fail, I fail to feel why I fall to fail. Whole week I feel utterly bored about everything, but as day passed I feel I want to rejuvenate, reboot and reenergize myself. It may take some time till I fully gain what I want. But after some time I will be ready, ready to fail higher and higher. But one day when I stop failing I would be at higher state than my last failure. I wish myself good luck for that day, I congratulate myself for that future and I thank my past for all failures you have to offer.

With announcement of tourism year 2011 there's lot going to bring large number of tourist in country, even political parties are signing for no-bandhas for 2011. In the mean time advertisement have started to appear, webpage has been setup http://nepaltourismyear2011.com . Well I am happy and I wish lots and lots of tourist may visit and enjoy natural beauty and renowned hospitality of our country.

Nepal, as perceived by Late King. Prithivi Narayan Shah as "yam between two boulder" is pretty much different than both neighbors in many aspects, this visualization tries to quantify the magnitude of difference. Taking some important data and indices (six actually) , the difference is plotted by proportionality of map. Width is considered as key variable and other parameter are scaled according to width. Map may contain error to some points as data were rounded off and truncated for sake of visualization, but main point of visualization was to depict proportionality rather than accurate portrayal of data. The value used is presented within respective boxes.

I have been experimenting lately how even a little amount of data could give new perspective of visualization, I experimented with this small infographic and I am excited with the result.

I created this data visualization guideline for a company which needs regular data visualization for printing and presentation purpose, their requirement specially demands different charts and graphs. This visualization guideline is not a complete solution but contextual one rather, I am very thankful towards the company for letting me post this guideline publicly.
I hope this guideline will be of some help to starters.

Today shankar pointed me to something very intersting on http://myrepublica.com , As with many sites this site has built in spam protection to discourage spammers commenting on the post, but there is something interesting about the method used, you don't even have to guess what's written on the captcha. Here is what you do.
 
1) open the post you want to comment on.
 
2) on the right side or bottom you'll see the comment box

3) Write your name, email and comment on the respective fields

4) copy the text from captcha .

5) paste the text in the adjacent text input box.

6) now click 'submit' to submit your comment.

Voila!!
 
But I heard somewhere that spammer can write scripts to repeat this process continuously, sending loads of spam to the site. Better way to protect the site is to put some captcha.
Wait!! did I just say captcha?

ISP's are necessary evils , the fact is much more obvious in our country. I own two internet account from same ISP, one for my personal usages at home and other for my office. My ISP have a policy to renew account automatically for a week after issuing 1 week 'before disable' notice, which comes as blank email with subject only in my inbox (I cannot differentiate which acount is being disable), over 3months of payment period I suffer atleast 1wk of connection disruption. Last week my personal account was disconnected and I was sent 3 'before disable' notice on single day, eventhough I received 'automatic renewal' notice my account wasn't renewed (not to mention last time I got my connection only after 1 week of paying account renewal fee). Frustated from all this I decided not to pay anymore for my personal account and continue to use my office account to connect to internet from home. But there were few problems:

1) The authentication is MAC binding

2) The service is pppoe but connection is through 2 pair cat5e at home and 4 pair cat5e connected through wireless link to ISP at office.

3) TTL value is set to 1 so I cannot share connection with multiple computers

Here is my workaround to these problems:

1) I use MacOSX as my primary OS. There was problem changing MAC address with leopard which seems to be solved now (let's hope it will remain same for Snow Leopard as well). The command to change MAC address under OS X is:

$ sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr 00:1e:xx:xx:xx:xx

 

2) This shouldn't be a problem, but due to wireless interface involved or maybe some mysterious region the connection becomes irresponsive sometime, it is solved by changing the media type of the ethernet interface to 10 base T, in Mac OS X you can do so by:

$ sudo ifconfig en0 media 10baseT/UTP

 

3) There are two workaround to this problem, either you can setup a proxy server or directly increast TTL value. I didnot find satisfactory way to increase TTL in OS X (actually I am too lazy to install iptables and I didn't find proper way to do it with ipfw command). For sharing internet over wifi using proxy:

a. Install squidman (easy squid for OS X) from here

b. Go to system preferences/sharing/internet sharing and share your internet connection from the proper pppoe to Airport.

c. In squidMan preference set hostname and ports for client, and add client ip in client tab.

d. In your client simply search for wifi and connect to adhoc connection created in step 'b' , and set browser proxy (for firefox preferences/advanced/network/settings and enter proper address from step 'c')

My method are not brilliant and I am still searching if there's native command to bypass/increase TTL. But atleast this method works for me. If you know optimal/alternative methods please enlighten me.
